Article Marketing is a really excellent idea when you want to get traffic to your site. It isn't difficult to understand why. When you are writing an article for article marketing you are scribing in a way that will not only inform readers of your topic of choice but you are scribing using words that are relevant to the topic of choice. Words used in an article that are related to each other are called relevant keywords. (I must remember to spell check this document, I've only just realized that when typing, I spell relevant with an e 'relevent').


Relevant keywords are essential to good articles. Using 4 or 5 keyword combinations in an article will give it a huge advantage when being analyzed to work out what to index the article under.

If I was a blogger (which I am) and I am looking for some content for my blog (again, which I am) - when I go out searching for relevant content in one of the many article directories; I type in what I am looking for (just like Google) and the directory will return what it knows is the most relevant articles based on what you've typed in. If you have an article which has relevant keywords in the body of it - there's a much better chance your article will be selected by the user.

What has this to do with your traffic? Quite easy - when the article writer submitted the article to the article directory, there was an article author or resource box at the bottom. In that box the writer writes a bio about him or herself and inserts a URL to either their personal website or if they are writing to give backlinks to a specific page of either their own or someones blog it will contain a relevant link back or backlink to that website.

Article marketing loves bloggers. Bloggers are great people, they adore good content on their site. They most certainly normally do write the blog post themselves, but, if they want to fill in between posts they might choose to use articles from an article directory.

Article directories appear to use each others articles - they are very happy to take articles from other directories and add them to their arsenal. Some article directories even have the articles auto-posted to their system with a very simple script. This is a superb result for marketers. Not only do you get an amazing, relevant link back from your original article, you even get links back from all the other instances of your article wherever on the web.

This is a super result. Regular readers of a blog, if they like the article, will certainly go look at whatever else the writer has written. This will certainly bring you traffic. The other way you'll get traffic is by ranking better for a particular keyword phrase or relevant keyword in Google, Bing (MSN), Ask, Yahoo etc. This will really make your blog more relevant to searches using that relevant keyword or keyword phrase.

Let me explain that a bit more. Let us say you have 5 relevant articles submitted to the article directories using the relevant keyword related to your page (remember that a link or any article pointing to your site is only of value to the page it is pointing to. The total number of pages crawled for that relevant keyword throughout your site - it isn't totaled up and analyzed to give an inkling as to what your total site is about. You'll have to use in-site linking to drive all the link power to where you need the love to go). Lets say that all the links on the web are now linking to your page on that relevant keyword or keyword phrase. Total them all up, these will be backlinks, relevant backlinks to give Google and the other search engines something to score your page against.

Good news for us! Article Marketing is with us for a long time yet and it certainly will drive traffic to your blog - in no time at all.
