Julie likes working as an Ultrasound Technician. She starts each day with gusto.
So, can you be happy go lucky like Julie? Is becoming an Ultrasound Technician a good career move for you?
Ultrasound technology uses high pitched sound to take a snapshot of what is going on inside you. A common use for sonography is to examine pregnant moms' fetuses to see that they are doing well. Also, cardiology (heart) ultrasounds are studied to evaluate the shape of the cardiovascular system surrounding it. Motion can also be evaluated to figure out how well the heart is performing. Even though cardiology is a great use of sonography, Julie spends her time doing ultrasounds for the maternity ward, not cardiac patients. Let us learn at how sonography is done for pregnant women.
For maternity patients, the Sonographer puts a slick gel on the expectant mother's belly area. Then, the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer runs the sonography ”wand” on her belly carefully to make sure that everything looks good with the baby.
A possibility during this procedure is that the baby's sex can be discovered. This is an enjoyable moment in the mother's life and Julie relishes telling future moms that everything is ok as expected. Also, if the pregnant woman wants to know and Julie can see well enough with the sonogram,Julie will reveal the sex to the happy mother to be.
Also, Julie checks that there is nothing clearly wrong with the baby, like it having twelve arms. The baby invariably successfully completes the eight eye screening, so this one is a favorite of Julie's. Also, Julie checks if there are some areas that jump out to her. Sometimes, there may be something that the sonogram displays as an area to examine further. If that does happen and Julie wants to get an additional opinion on it, then she may call a radiologist for his thoughts or set up the future mom for an additional screening.
Almost always, the baby looks good and Julie shows the mom the blurry snapshot of her baby. And first time pregnant women post that snapshot on Shutterfly, create magnets of it and create any other item that strikes their fancy.
Julie contributes to their moment of great excitement as they see the first snapshot of their baby. This is what keeps Julie happy and makes her excited about work on Mondays. She had wanted to be a doctor, but becoming an Ultrasound Technician was a much shorter program, so that she could start a family of her own. And then Julie knew exactly what was going on when she got her own sonogram.
