| Christmas ornaments are extensively used throughout the Yuletide season. And they are often beautiful reminders of just about all that Christmas represents. Traditional Christmas ornaments consist of the Christmas tree, the star of Bethlehem, Santa Claus ornaments and figurines, the mistletoe, the holly wreath and poinsettias. Some other types of decorative pieces include snowmen, candy canes, Christmas lights, garland, bows, candles, icicles, penguins, and reindeer among others. The principal colors of Christmas are red and green; it's typically incorporated into the overall decorative theme through the holiday. The color red is generally linked to Christ's ultimate sacrifice therefore is considered to represent his blood, while the color green has traditionally been associated with the return to spring after a winter season has transpired. Many celebrants of this season don their houses in a number of Christmas ornaments yearly. In many ways these symbolic pieces help to create the atmosphere associated with the season and inspire the festive spirit.
Types of Christmas Accents Christmas Tree The use of the Christmas tree during yearly celebrations is said to have originated from 18th century Germany. It is probably the most recognizable symbols of Christmas and may be seen in most houses during the christmas. The modern age has introduced artificial trees that are used by some individuals because of its affordability and longevity. The tree is placed in an area where the family will gather. Christmas presents are placed beneath it and opened on Christmas day or Christmas Eve depending on the families preferred tradition. This is the centre piece for decorative ornaments, the most obvious of which are Christmas lights which gives it luminance by night. Ornaments There are a number of ornaments that can be bought during the Christmas season. These include, the star, Santa Claus, bells, ribbons, garland, snowmen, gingerbread men, balls and many other nifty trinkets that will give a Christmas tree a great amount of brilliance. Holly Wreath The holly wreath is placed on doors on the entrance and rear of most homes. Hanging a holly wreath is really a fairly old tradition. It's especially Christmas like in appearance due to its red berries and green colored foliage. Much like the Christmas trees, artificial holly wreaths can be bought that look very similar to true holly wreaths. Poinsettias Poinsettias are indigenous to Mexico and were first introduced to the USA in early 19th century. Its use is understandable as it encompasses the traditional Christmas colors. In addition, its large leaves transform into a lush bouquet of reds making it an absolutely perfect complement for the season. |
